On July 21, 2018, a declaration was issued by the state’s Department of Culture proclaiming Puerto Vallarta’s Historic Center as a protected Cultural Heritage of the Mexican State of Jalisco. This officially protects the center of the city with all privileges and rights of a heritage protected by state and federal laws.
From where the Hotel Rosita, the oldest hotel in Puerto Vallarta where the Malecon begins to the cobblestone streets in the Romantic Zone including up to the historic neighborhood of Conchas Chinas. Much loved and appreciated by the people of Vallarta and by visitors to this charming city, the center of Puerto Vallarta with its cobblestone streets, colorful flowering bougainvillea, and colonial architecture retains its authentic characteristics of a traditional Mexican town.
As the city is in the midst of celebrating its centennial, the special historical significance is given to each area as well as the essence of the port city in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, and Mexico.
In a recent statement Javier Aranda Pedrero, Director of the Puerto Vallarta Tourism Board said: “We applaud the actions taken by Jalisco’s Department of Culture and welcome everyone to enjoy this iconic part of the city.” A major attraction to all visitors is Puerto Vallarta’s historic center as it is the heart of the city, and must be recognized as an irreplaceable part of our legacy,”
The image and essential characteristics are one of the unique qualities of Puerto Vallarta as the “Most Mexican” Beach Destination. This proclamation according to the State of Jalisco is a step forward in preserving the architectural elements of the patrimonial value of this coastline town.
