Puerto Vallarta’s tourism industry continues to gain momentum, with hotel sales and travel demand now surpassing levels recorded at the same time in 2025. According to Daniel Torres D’Elia, general director of the Puerto Vallarta and Bahía de Banderas Hotel Association, the destination is seeing a significant increase in advance room-night purchases for future travel periods.
The positive trend follows an excellent recent long weekend that produced average hotel occupancy of 85 percent across the destination. Torres D’Elia said the latest booking data is especially encouraging after the challenges the region faced earlier this year.
Following the events of February 22 and the temporary wave of hotel reservation cancellations that followed, the local tourism industry focused heavily on restoring traveler confidence. In recent weeks, however, the pace of confirmed room-night sales has exceeded the same period last year, signaling a clear recovery in demand for upcoming months.
Torres D’Elia explained that these bookings are being made by both domestic and international travelers and can be finalized in the coming months, depending on customer decisions. The increase in future reservations is particularly promising for the 2026-2027 winter season, which is already showing strong signs of growth.
To support this recovery and strengthen tourism sales, the Hotel Association has launched a joint promotional campaign with PriceTravel, one of the leading online travel agencies and tour operators in Mexico and Latin America.
Under the partnership, both organizations are contributing equally to a campaign designed to promote participating hotels and increase direct room-night sales. The combined investment totals approximately one million pesos.
The three-month campaign, which began last week, is focused specifically on the domestic market. Along with generating immediate bookings, the initiative is also intended to build stronger occupancy levels for the upcoming summer travel season.
