The leadership transition, carried out by Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP), marks a strategic move to support the airport’s rapid growth and ambitious development plans.
Torres brings more than 25 years of industry experience, including 19 with GAP, where he has led operations at several major airports across Mexico. His academic background in Business Administration and postgraduate studies in Aeronautical and Airport Management make him well-equipped to guide the Vallarta airport into its next phase.
In 2024, the Puerto Vallarta airport surpassed 6.8 million passengers – a historic achievement that places it among the most active tourism hubs on Mexico’s Pacific coast. To meet growing demand, GAP is pressing forward with a multi-billion peso expansion, including the construction of a New Terminal Building (NET), scheduled to open its first phase in 2025.
The NET will add 74,000 square meters to the facility, increasing terminal space by 134%, adding 15 new aircraft positions, and boosting the airport’s operational area by 55%. This effort is part of a larger investment totaling 9.2 billion pesos across two five-year periods.
Outgoing administrator Cryshtian José Amador Lizardi leaves behind a strong legacy. During his five-year tenure, he championed improvements in air connectivity, customer service, and environmental sustainability. Under his guidance, Vallarta Airport expanded international routes and strengthened its position as a key link between Mexico and North America. Cryshtian will remain within GAP to continue his professional journey.
