Located 7.5 kilometers (4.6 miles) south of downtown Puerto Vallarta, Playa Palmares is a scenic retreat along the Mismaloya Road. The drive is a visual delight, winding between the lush jungle and the sparkling Pacific, with ocean views that stretch to the horizon. Travelers can reach the beach by taxi or city bus on the Mismaloya-Boca de Tomatlán route, arriving in about 17 minutes.
The renovation includes repaving the existing parking lot with durable hydraulic concrete, adding a new parking area, and upgrading public restrooms. These enhancements will improve comfort and accessibility while supporting the beach’s prestigious White Flag certification.
Awarded by Semarnat, the White Flag designation recognizes beaches that meet high environmental, safety, and service standards. This certification would further establish Playa Palmares as one of Puerto Vallarta’s top seaside destinations.
The Public Works Adjudication Commission, led by Mayor Luis Munguía, has approved the project, and construction will begin this month.
In related news, the city is also investing over 1.5 million pesos to improve lighting along the Puerto Vallarta Malecón, ensuring safer and more inviting spaces for evening strolls.
