Puerto Vallarta Approves Historic $3.1 Billion Budget for 2026

  • December 27, 2025

The Puerto Vallarta City Council has reached a significant milestone for the upcoming year by approving a historic expenditure budget of 3,101,869,049.00 pesos. This financial plan represents a substantial increase of nearly 500 million pesos over the previous year, signaling a robust commitment to the city’s growth.

By prioritizing public works, health, and education, the 2026 budget establishes a clear roadmap for enhancing the daily lives of residents across the municipality.

Mayor Luis Munguía emphasized that the budget is built on a realistic and unified vision shared by the council members. A cornerstone of this vision is the Lluvia de calles Street Improvement Project, an ambitious initiative set to construct or rebuild approximately 100 roads throughout various neighborhoods.

These infrastructure upgrades will be complemented by the continued revitalization of public spaces, including the development of new green areas and modern playgrounds for local families to enjoy.

This dedication to community well-being extends deeply into the educational sector, which remains a top priority for the current administration. Through successful collaboration with the Government of the State of Jalisco, the city has already seen the renovation of 27 schools and the installation of 10 civic courtyard domes. These improvements ensure that students have access to safer and more comfortable learning environments as they pursue their academic goals.

Public health services are also set to expand significantly under the new fiscal plan. The city will establish two new permanent clinics in Las Mojoneras and El Pitillal, providing members with essential medical care at no cost.

Beyond clinical services, the administration is launching a comprehensive home improvement program. Starting next year, eligible families will receive assistance for kitchen upgrades, facade repairs, and the construction of additional rooms and bathrooms, directly improving the quality of life within residential districts.

Economic empowerment serves as a final, vital pillar of the 2026 budget. More than a thousand women will receive specialized support to launch their own businesses, fostering local entrepreneurship and financial independence. To ensure these programs are funded responsibly, the City Council also approved a streamlined payroll schedule that eliminates vacant positions while providing legally mandated adjustments for current employees.

With these measures in place, Puerto Vallarta moves into the new year with a focused strategy to promote lasting prosperity for all its citizens.  https://banderasnews.com/
