Parks, Gyms and Sports Units Reopen in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco
Given the extension of the emergency button to contain COVID-19 in Jalisco, the State Health Board, taking into account the role that exercise plays in overall health, agreed and taking into account the importance that correct nutrition, exercise, and strengthening of the body have for mental health to open access to safe places for physical activity, such as gyms and parks, as of February 2nd with the only restrictions being a maximum of 50% of capacity and visitors respecting all COVID-19 health protocols.
“The COVID-19 pandemic in Jalisco is still at a critical point, that is why as a society, in addition to complying with the already known health measures, such as the proper use of face masks, social distancing, and frequent hand washing, we must also try to maintain a good long-term state of health, so experts recommend eating healthy (a balanced diet that includes fresh foods, avoiding foods high in calories, fat, and sugar); drink enough natural water and engage in regular physical activity; as well as recreational activities in safe places,” the health board said.
The Health Board also considered that as the cold weather ends in the State, the practice of exercise can contribute to strengthening people’s health, as long as social distancing is practiced and there are no large crowds that put them at risk of contagion.
Therefore, as of Tuesday, February 2, 2021, the following places are allowed to operate with a maximum of 50% of their capacity and respecting all COVID-19 prevention measures:
• Gyms
• Parks
• Urban forests
• Sports units
• Athletics clubs, for use of the facilities for physical activity
• Sports courts (without the sale of alcoholic beverages)
