Leading the charge, Volaris recently announced a massive nationwide expansion that includes three new direct connections to Puerto Vallarta starting June 2. Travelers from Puebla, Aguascalientes, and San Luis Potosí will soon enjoy more convenient access to the Pacific coast, providing residents of central Mexico with efficient ways to reach the beach.
The new route from Aguascalientes will offer early morning service on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays. Flights are scheduled to depart at 8:13 am, allowing visitors to land in Puerto Vallarta by 9:10 am. The return leg departs shortly after at 9:50 am, reaching Aguascalientes before noon. This schedule introduces healthy competition to the region, ensuring more options for those traveling from the heart of the country.
Similarly, the connection between Puebla and Puerto Vallarta will operate three days a week, with mid-afternoon departures that make travel seamless for those coming from the Puebla capital. The addition of San Luis Potosí to the flight map is particularly noteworthy, as it restores a previously lost connection to the city, filling a gap in the market and making the journey much easier for Potosí locals.
This surge in domestic activity is being matched by an increase in international interest as the 2026-2027 winter season approaches.
Air Canada Rouge has announced a seasonal expansion starting this December, linking Calgary directly to Puerto Vallarta. Running through April 2027, this route addresses the growing demand from Canadian travelers looking to escape the cold for the warmth of the Mexican Pacific. Utilizing modern Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, the service will operate every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
Beyond bringing visitors to Mexico, this partnership aims to make Calgary an attractive stop for Mexican tourists interested in exploring Canada’s unique urban and natural landscapes.
