Marina Vallarta will celebrate one of Mexico’s most cherished traditions with the 2025 Day of the Dead Festival, taking place from October 27 to November 10. The event promises to honor departed loved ones while offering an unforgettable cultural experience for locals and visitors alike.
Organized by the Marina Vallarta Residents Association, the festival aims to unite local entrepreneurs, restaurateurs, and businesses in a colorful celebration of art, memory, and community. A majestic altar of the dead will be set up along Mástil Street, accompanied by four towering catrinas that will serve as the heart of the event.
The entire boardwalk is set to be transformed into a beautiful, reflective space that truly embodies Mexican identity, blending tradition with a touch of modern artistry. The grand altar itself will stand as a powerful testament to love and respect, meticulously decorated with bright marigold flowers, traditional sugar skulls, and photographs of those who have passed, symbolizing both remembrance and the enduring cycle of life.
Antonio García López, manager of the Association, emphasized the importance of community participation and local sponsorships in creating an authentic and engaging atmosphere. “This festival is about preserving our traditions while sharing them with the world,” he said.
This year’s celebration will coincide with the opening of the Marina Vallarta Art & Market on October 30, which will run every Thursday from 6:00 to 10:00 pm. The two events will complement each other perfectly, offering live music, art, crafts, and authentic Mexican cuisine along the scenic Marina Malecón.
