Jalisco Requires Vaccination Certificates to Enter Bars
January 14, 2022 Update: According to reports by Mexican news media, a vaccination certificate or negative PCR test is also required to enter all Restaurant/Bars in the State of Jalisco from today until February 12. This clarification came after restaurants with a booming bar business indicated on their social media networks that they would not ask customers to comply with this requirement.
Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico – After Monday morning’s meeting of the health board, Governor Enrique Alfaro Ramírez announced that, although there will be no closures in Jalisco, due to the exponential growth of Covid-19, as of Friday a vaccination certificate will be required to enter bars, clubs, event rooms, casinos, and convention centers, as well as large events.
The certificates issued by the federal platform or the biological vouchers received upon vaccination will be considered valid, in addition to vaccine certificates issued in the United States, Canada, or other countries.
Those who do not have proof of vaccination must show a negative PCR test administered within the previous 48 hours. These measures will come into force on Friday, January 14, and will only apply to adults.
During the press conference, it was explained that the establishments mentioned above will be responsible for verifying that everyone who enters has a certificate or negative PCR test.
The governor added that although active cases of Covid-19 have grown rapidly in the state, the indicators of hospitalizations and fatality remain stable.
Therefore, the return to in-person classes will be staggered; at the elementary level schools will reopen on January 17, middle school and private universities on January 31, and the UdeG on February 8. He reiterated that the patron saint festivities will continue to be suspended.
