Navy Leads Camarones Beach Cleanup in Puerto Vallarta

  • August 3, 2026

The Mexican Navy, through the Twelfth Naval Zone, joined forces with government agencies, schools, and community organizations on Friday to carry out a large-scale environmental cleanup at Camarones Beach, reinforcing its ongoing commitment to protecting Puerto Vallarta’s coastline and marine ecosystem.

Dozens of naval personnel were deployed along the beach to remove plastic, glass, and other solid waste that had accumulated on the shoreline. By clearing debris before it can be carried into the ocean by waves and tides, the effort helps reduce pollution and protect local marine life.

The cleanup brought together representatives from all three levels of government, educational institutions, and local civil organizations, demonstrating the value of collaboration in preserving one of Puerto Vallarta’s most popular public beaches. Volunteers worked side by side to improve the area’s environmental health while promoting greater awareness of the importance of keeping coastal spaces clean.

According to naval commanders, these cleanup operations are part of the Mexican Navy’s ongoing environmental conservation efforts aimed at protecting the country’s natural resources and coastal ecosystems. Removing garbage and pollutants not only benefits native plants and wildlife but also enhances the experience for residents and visitors who enjoy the city’s beaches throughout the year.

Healthy beaches also play an important role in Puerto Vallarta’s economy, supporting tourism and the many local businesses that depend on a clean and attractive coastline. Maintaining these natural spaces helps preserve the destination’s appeal while safeguarding valuable environmental resources for future generations.

The Twelfth Naval Zone said it will continue organizing similar environmental campaigns in partnership with public and private organizations.

Authorities also encouraged residents and visitors to dispose of waste responsibly and report any illegal discharges or pollution affecting the sea, noting that protecting Puerto Vallarta’s coastline requires the active participation of the entire community.  https://banderasnews.com/
