As Puerto Vallarta prepares to welcome an influx of summer visitors, lifeguards from both the public and private sectors have completed specialized training designed to enhance safety at beaches, pools, and other aquatic areas throughout the destination.
The Puerto Vallarta Civil Protection and Fire Department recently conducted an ocean and pool certification course for municipal lifeguards, focusing on strengthening the response capabilities of personnel responsible for protecting residents and tourists in aquatic environments.
During the program, participants refreshed and expanded their knowledge of water rescue techniques, beach and pool safety procedures, and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), one of the most important tools for responding to emergencies. The course combined classroom instruction with hands-on exercises that will allow lifeguards to practice rescue maneuvers and intervention protocols in a variety of risk scenarios.
Authorities explained that the training is part of an ongoing effort by the Municipal Government to ensure emergency response teams remain prepared. Continuous professional development is considered essential in a city that welcomes thousands of national and international visitors each year, particularly during peak vacation periods.
In addition to municipal personnel, hotel lifeguards also completed the certification process, strengthening the tourism sector’s ability to provide timely assistance and emergency response services to guests staying in local lodging establishments.
To recognize the achievement, the Puerto Vallarta and Banderas Bay Hotel Association, in coordination with the Civil Protection and Fire Department, held a certification ceremony for participants who completed the 2026 Lifeguard Course.
The event brought together representatives from the hotel industry, emergency services, operational teams, and lifeguards, who applauded the dedication and commitment demonstrated by the participants throughout the training. The ceremony highlighted the importance of maintaining highly qualified personnel, capable of responding effectively to emergencies on the beaches and within hotel properties.
Representatives of the Hotel Association reaffirmed their commitment to promoting specialized training opportunities that strengthen the skills of tourism personnel and help maintain Vallarta’s reputation for quality service, visitor care, and professional standards.
