The Puerto Vallarta community is actively moving toward recovery following Sunday’s disturbances. Mayor Luis Munguía reassured the public that the city remains resilient and that local government efforts are fully focused on restoring order across the municipality.
In the wake of yesterday’s vandalism and vehicle fires, the city has mobilized extensive cleanup crews to clear affected roadways. While the material damage is notable – including approximately 200 burned vehicles and 48 vandalized businesses – the Mayor emphasized that there have been no reported fatalities. This preservation of life remains the most significant silver lining as the city begins its restoration process.
Support systems were deployed immediately to assist residents in navigating the aftermath. The Social Attorney’s Office is currently providing legal guidance to owners of the affected vehicles, while the Municipal DIF is coordinating food assistance for neighborhoods most impacted by the disruptions. One of the primary infrastructure priorities is the La Desembocada bridge on State Highway 544, which sustained structural damage and is currently under assessment.
The city’s vital tourism sector continues to function through close cooperation between hoteliers and the Ministry of Tourism. While the local airport and bus terminals remain fully operational to serve travelers, public transit within the city is currently running at roughly 25% capacity. Visitors and residents alike are encouraged to stay informed through official government channels to ensure they have the most accurate updates.
Safety remains a top priority as the Navy and National Guard continue to reinforce security throughout the region. Although the “Code Red” status remains active in Jalisco, the presence of these authorities serves to protect the community while investigations continue. Mayor Munguía advised citizens to remain at home when possible and reminded the public that the State Government will provide the official notice when the security alert level is downgraded.
Building on this momentum for recovery, the city is also looking forward to its scheduled March events to help revitalize the local economy and community spirit. https://banderasnews.com/
