This winter, Puerto Vallarta International Airport will expand its connections to Canada with the arrival of Porter Airlines, further strengthening its international reach. The airline will begin operations for the 2025–2026 winter season, opening direct routes from Toronto, Ottawa, and Hamilton.
With these additions, the airport will now offer service to 17 Canadian cities, solidifying its place as the second-largest airport in Mexico for Canadian passenger volume. Nearly one in three international travelers arriving in Puerto Vallarta comes from Canada.
Flights will operate on modern Embraer 195-E2 aircraft with 132 seats. The Toronto route will launch on November 14 with three weekly flights on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. Ottawa will follow on December 13 with flights on Tuesdays and Saturdays, and Hamilton will begin December 18 with service on Mondays and Thursdays.
Porter Airlines, based in Toronto, is Canada’s third-largest airline, serving over 40 destinations and carrying 5.5 million passengers annually. The airline is recognized for its quality service and comfort-focused amenities.

Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP), which operates the Vallarta terminal, emphasized the importance of these routes in maintaining strong ties with Canada. Currently, 45% of the airport’s international routes originate from Canadian cities. In total, the airport now connects to 37 international and 13 domestic destinations, served by 18 airlines.
“For GAP, investing in greater airport connectivity is a priority,” said Omar Gildardo Torres Grajeda, the airport’s new administrator. “Today, Porter Airlines places its trust in Puerto Vallarta and this terminal, which offers all the necessary infrastructure to welcome visitors from Canada and around the world.”
International travel continues to play a key role in the airport’s activity, with 63% of all passengers arriving from abroad. As of May 2025, over 2 million international travelers had passed through its gates.
