The highway cuts travel time between the two cities to just three hours, enticing travelers from not only Guadalajara but also the Bajío region, Michoacán, Zacatecas, San Luis Potosí, and central Mexico. This improved road connectivity is making Puerto Vallarta a more accessible and attractive destination.
The improved connectivity extends beyond Puerto Vallarta itself. The highway has become a catalyst for “circuit tourism” within Jalisco. With shorter travel times, tourists can explore multiple destinations in a single trip.

In addition to the new highway, Jalisco offers two free routes connecting Guadalajara and Puerto Vallarta. One is a federal highway, and the other is a scenic state route through the Sierra Madre Occidental, known for its breathtaking views.
